FTP on free hosting with an integrated control panel can be a bit different to that of hosting that uses cPanel or some other well known control panel, so here is some steps for ftp on Awardspace.
Finding and downloading a FTP client
Finding a good reliable and free FTP client can be a task, but I recommend you use filezilla. Filezilla is an open source FTP client and works very well!
Once you have downloaded and installed an FTP client, move to the next step..
Now what? Settings and Configuration
host/path: login to your Awardspace control panel and then go to your FTP manager, then follow the below steps:
step 1: Go to the FTP manager
Go to ftp manager
step 2: Get your host/path from the list, anyone of them(everyones is different).
Down the bottom of the page is the ftp host/path names...
Username and password:
Go to your FTP manager again..
FTP username is in the the table on the FTP manager page and to set the password click the images at the end of the table
Once you have clicked the image it will come up like this:
Set your password in the 2 feilds provided
Now what? Settings and Configuration of your FTP
- host/path: <SUBDOMAIN> or <DOMAIN> - found in the FTP manager (shown above in second image).
- Username: - found in the FTP manager (Shown in the third image).
- Password: - Set in the FTP manager (Shown in the forth image).
- Port: 21 (if required)
- Passive mode: ON (if you get an Error 500 its because this is turned off)
Congratulations
